Clawdbot (OpenClaw) rebrands twice amid security concerns and scams

Clawdbot, a viral AI agent tool by Peter Steinberger that amassed over 100,000 GitHub stars, was renamed to Moltbot and then OpenClaw after a trademark dispute with Anthropic. The rapid rebrands fueled confusion that scammers exploited through typosquat domains, cloned GitHub repos, and a fake cryptocurrency token using the old name.

Security researchers found hundreds of exposed control panels leaking chat logs, API keys, and remote command access. Token Security reported 22% of its customers had employees using the tool without approval, highlighting growing shadow IT risks as agentic AI tools gain deep system permissions before adequate guardrails are in place.

SpaceX acquires xAI in $1.25T deal, wants to put data centers in space

SpaceX just merged with xAI, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, bringing together AI, rockets, Starlink internet, and phone connectivity under one roof. Musk says the world simply can't produce enough electricity to power all the AI data centers we'll need on Earth without hurting communities and the environment.

So his solution? Launch up to a million satellites into space that work as floating data centers, powered by the sun 24/7. Musk thinks space-based AI computing will actually be cheaper than doing it on the ground within two to three years. Long term, he wants to build factories on the Moon, expand to Mars, and eventually tap into a huge chunk of the Sun's energy — basically the plot of a sci-fi movie, but he's serious about it.

Databricks raises $5 billion, now valued at $134 billion

Databricks, a big data and AI software company, has closed a massive $5 billion funding round, putting its valuation at $134 billion. The company's revenue is growing fast — over $5.4 billion a year, up 65% from last year — with AI products alone bringing in $1.4 billion. Investors like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Qatar's sovereign wealth fund all jumped in.

CEO Ali Ghodsi says the company is ready to go public "when the time is right," potentially making it one of several major tech IPOs in 2026 alongside Anthropic and OpenAI. Databricks is now bigger than its rival Snowflake and is going after database giants like Oracle and SAP with new products, while Ghodsi called recent software stock sell-offs an "overreaction."
